Happy Monday and Happy Easter:) Well, happy Easter week. I’m a bit early perhaps but I will be posting my monthly Share Four Somethings on Thursday and, well, then Easter will be officially here. So, I thought I would take the time to not only wish everyone the loveliest of Easters but also to share a couple Easter memories. Last Thursday, I shared one of my earliest memories (although I have to admit that post led to some fun discussions with friends and even a few more memories….who knows all that is buried just beneath the surface of my old memory bank!?), so I thought I would keep the memories coming. For some reason, Easter always makes me a bit sentimental. More so that Christmas actually. Past Easters, when the children were little, hold fun and wonderful memories for me. The baskets. The egg hunts. Candy pinatas when the kids were a bit older. And the matching Easter outfits.
My parents bought the kids matching Easter outfits every year. This wasn’t too hard when there were just two of them, but got to much more of a challenge when Mom was trying to find just the perfect ensemble for three! She was a determined one and would scour every children’s boutique in North Carolina until everyone had even just the right socks! Needless to say, I was one proud mama walking into church on Easter morning. This photo is from 1993 – which would make them four, three and 18 months. Remember taking family photos at JC Penney??
This one is taken on the deck of my parents’ home in Charlotte. So many wonderful memories of trips to North Carolina. Holidays, long weekends and just any excuse to go to Mimi and G-Daddy’s house!! Be still my heart with Tyler’s knee socks and Emily’s pose!!
I still try to get a new dress each year and John always wears one of Tyler’s ties. Bittersweet, to be sure. But I am very grateful for memories. For Easter. For the resurrection and the promise of Heaven it provides!! I hope you enjoy some of your own sweet memories this week and here’s to creating new ones – even for two “old people” like my husband and myself!!
What cute pictures! Happy Easter!
Thanks Cathy!!
What lovely memories and such cute photos! Have a lovely Easter x
Thank you, Deb….you too!!
Hello, my friend. Yes, although I was a few years behind you in the nineties and had them taken at Sears, we have many similar photos! How very precious, my friend. I remember being so excited to find matching boy outfits to match the girls! Happy and Blessed Holy Week. Thank you for the memories!
Thanks Billie Jo – hope your week is blessed as well!!
Adorable pictures! I had just year of matching all three kids- it was hard for a boy and girls. That is so neat that your parents got Easter outfits for the kids. I would love to do that for my grandkids one day (should the Lord bless me with any!).
That matching with boys and girls was definitely a challenge…but my mom sure was up to the challenge!:) Here’s praying you will get the challenge one day!:)
Easter blessings to you, dear one …
Thanks so much, Linda. Same to you my friend!
Your children are adorable, Jennifer. Easter is always a special day of celebration.
Thanks! I thought they were pretty adorable!!:)
Love the photos!
Happy Easter!
hugs
